The Virtual Staffroom

As well as this blog, my other pet project is The Virtual Staffroom, a community podcasting project for educators. With the tagline of “Conversations with leading teachers about technology in the classroom”, the Virtual Staffroom aims to have, well, conversations with leading teachers about technology in the classroom. Pretty straightforward really.
The basic premise of the podcast is to capture some of those wonderful off-the-record style conversations that we teachers often have as we sit around the staffroom table at school. Of course, the staffroom table in this case happens to be Skype, the school happens to be the whole world, and these conversations are recorded so they aren’t really off the record any more, but you get the idea. We’ve talked about lots of different topics around the theme of technology in education, from Web2.0 to GPS to IWBs to digital literacy, with some of the most amazing teachers in the world. It really is quite a good listen, even though I say it myself.
You can access all the episodes at the Virtual Staffroom blog at www.virtualstaffroom.net
The Best of Betchablog
My other, much less obvious project is the Best of Betchablog podcast. Occasionally, I write something in my blog that I think sounds semi-intelligent. And when I do, I like to make the most it… After all, it doesn’t happen all the time!
As an added extra, I occasionally record some of my favourite written blog posts as audio files in order to make them available as a podcast. Not all the time, just sometimes. If you’re interested in hearing them read, you can get them from the iTunes Podcast Directory, where you can download them individually or even subscribe if you wish, so you get each new one freshly delivered directly to your iPod. Nice.
