Summing up the Shift

A rather interesting video that attempts to sum up some of the shifts and changes that schools are undergoing. There are some interesting video bites in here, but some very succinctly summarise the sorts of issues facing this institution we know as “school”.
Not much more I can add to it… just watch it.

Incredible! I will watch this 50 times and then blog it. It was quite exciting to know I recognized many of these people by site and their ideas from having collaborated with them on projects. That statement is said as a transparent realization that this is not hype that we are involved in- but a real, transformational, meaningful change project that is going to leave education better than we found it. Together- we are all so much more than any of us alone. Powerful. Thanks for sharing. Where did you find it btw?

Hi Sheryl. It’s good isn’t it. Although I recognise many of the people in it, the only one I’ve met in person is Greg Whitby (the one with the Aussie accent of course). I agree with you though, it’s a testament to the power of the community we are building here, beyond just the “cult of the amateur” and towards a meaningful global dialog with people who choose to be part of the conversation.
I found the video via Julian Ridden’s blog (http://moodleman.edublogs.org) I was in two minds as to whether I should repost it or not - sometimes I feel like I’m just adding to the echo chamber - but your comment reminded me that it’s worth spreading ideas if they are good ones.

Even though this idea of an echo chamber keeps getting passed around, we all read different blogs. Yours was the first post or mention that I’ve seen of this video, so I’m very glad that you reposted it. I’m always on the lookout for videos that seem to state the message of the need to expand teachers horizons. What I like about this video is that it points to the idea of teachers expanding their global connections in order to gain comfort in expanding their students connections.
