It would be great to see schools embrace such valuable professional development and support it through the provision of some release from class to participate. If a means of sharing the learning with the rest of the staff was properly negotiated, then the release time could be money well spent. After all, if you physically went to the conference, they'd have to call a casual in to replace you anyway!
